Elk Feedgrounds and CWD

This Washington Post article brings some national attention to one of the foremost problems of congregating and feeding wild elk (and other wildlife) in winter — the enhanced opportunity for the spread of diseases. Of greatest current concern is chronic wasting disease (CWD), a 100% fatal disease of deer, elk, and moose.

The Post article provides some insight into the biopolitics of managing wildlife. For more details, read my article on the topic in The Wildlife Professional.
