Birds have always fascinated us. We mere mortals are enamored by their colors, behavior, song, and diversity. Most of all, perhaps, we envy birds' ability to fly. Two-hundred-mile migrations of mule deer in Wyoming or the epic journeys of wildebeest and zebras in the Serengeti-Masai Mara ecosystem are captivating but can't compare to what migratory birds pull off twice each year.
I was stunned to read about this five-month-old godwit's journey from Alaska to Tasmania documented by GPS. And the bird apparently did it NON-STOP!
The more we learn about animals, the more wonderous they get.
